Proceeds from this show will go to Proyecto Mariposas, a Columbus-based non-profit organization that provides an environment of learning, sharing and support to Latina Girls and their mothers.Įsta exposición colaborativa de obras de Christian Casas y Armando Roman privilegia la imaginación y el pensamiento especulativo. Usando historia, archivos y fotografías, lo real y lo actual se abstraen a través del color, la textura y la forma. We find joy in translating the events, moments, and feelings our families endured as an act of remembrance that cannot be erased. Through our work, we begin unpacking the complexity of our families' migration to the U.S. This is a newfound space for the both of us, wherein we work with the possible, not the actual. Imagination is a privilege –not guaranteed or given to all. Using history, archives, and photographs –the real and actual become abstracted through color, texture, and shape. Finally, as a methodological proposal, the "circular visualization" offers these institutions a way to analyze their digital content as a system. This collaborative exhibition of works by Christian Casas and Armando Roman privileges imagination and speculative thought. It also emphasizes how important it is to create digital narratives that follow a digital strategy for social media channels. In the end, the study reflects the different perspectives that should be considered when creating digital content for these types of institutions that work with memory. The objective was to examine how Colombia's armed conflict was being communicated to the public by the Center. In particular, I analyzed a set of web microsites produced by the Center, called "Digital Specials," as well as their Instagram account. The case study was Colombia's National Center of Historical Memory. These digital media are considered forms of communication used by historical memory centers or museums dedicated to memory. This research aims to analyze the intersection between memory studies and digital media such as websites, social media profiles, digital books, and digital strategies. Finally, as a methodological proposal, the circular visualization exposes a way to help analyze the digital ecosystems of memory institutions. It also exposes the importance of conceiving web products related to the digital strategy of social networking channels. Furthermore, it clarifies the different perspectives considered when making digital content related to memory studies. The study reflects the understanding of the new ecological behaviour of memory in digital spaces. Using a conceptual analysis based on the idea of the connective turn, this thesis shows how the National Center of Historical Memory of Colombia has been addressing the message of memory of the armed conflict through the case study of the digital narratives of the "Digital Specials", and how the message is transmitted in their Instagram profile. The omnipresence of digital media is a provocation that makes us wonder about the relationships and connections of memory with the past, present and future in the digital world (Hoskins 9). The connective turn marks the contemporary memory boom.
